7 Ways to See Immediate Results at your Alpha Course!

Simple but effective. Teams will be motivated and guests will keep coming back.

1. Team prayer & pep talk: Ten minutes before the evening begins, rally the whole team together. Be energetic, enthusiastic and help them to focus on what's important.

2. Use first names: With team members and with guests. Alpha is about building relationships and trust. You'll need to exercise your memory for this one!

3. Keep meal conversation light: Nicky Gumbel says NO religious talk over dinner. Get to know people, have fun, tell stories, ask about hobbies and interests.

4. Show a Streeter before the Alpha talk: Each of the 8 video clips introduces a level of honesty that will give guests the freedom to speak their minds and be themselves. <Streeter Week 2 here>

5. Empower your Small Group Leaders: Giving out copies of helpful material is not homework, it's resourcing them to become better leaders. Hand out copies of "Answering a Question with a Question" or "Effective Small Group Discussions" over the next 2 weeks. Make sure each person is signed up for the weekly issue of Realtime Training.

6. Always debrief with your team: Sure everyone is tired, but it's more important that they feel cared for and heard. Don't ask who has something to share; rather have each person say a sentence or two about the evening. Follow up later with those who might need a phone call, prayer or seem discouraged.

7. Keep the pastors informed: If you're not part of the weekly staff meeting, send a brief email to the pastor with an overview of how Alpha went, or a testimony, or prayer request. The email can be read to encourage the congregation and/or sent to the church prayer team. It's a win-win!
