ALPHA: in this case, the P stands for Picante
Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:51AM
In the Fall of 2010, St. Thomas’ Church in St. John’s, NL decided to take Alpha outside the church: at Quintanas De La Plaza Mexican Restaurant! The church booked the entire 2nd floor of the restaurant from 6:30-8:30pm and provided the meal at the Nacho Bar ($5 donations welcome). It was serve-yourself style and then the group watched the 7-week Campus Alpha videos with host Jamie Haith (way to mix things up!). About 14 people attended and they had a successful Weekend Away.
Here are some comments from Amanda, one of the guests on this Alpha course:
I enjoyed the Alpha Course very much. Before Alpha I was a “believer” in God but I guess I was never connected to Him. Through various troubled times, I did reach out and connect, and things are better in my life for me. I am able to let go with things and let God be in control.
I find Alpha interesting because there are so many questions in my mind, and a lot of others` minds as well and there really is not a correct answer; it’s really all about what we experience and feel, and of course what is stated in the Bible.
It was once said to me that “when you’re green, you grow, and when you’re ripe, you rot.” This sticks with me in wonder moments…lol.
